Vaccination Against Cervical Cancer
Nearly all cases of cervical cancer are caused by a virus called HPV (wart virus).
70% of young women will become infected with this virus when they become sexually active.
Only a small number of women who contract HPV will develop an abnormal smear and progress to cancer changes.
A vaccine to prevent HPV infection is now available for girls 11-14 years and older women prior to the onset of sexual activity.
Three vaccinations are needed.
Kind and sympathetic treatment by a woman gynaecologist with over 20 years experience.
